Activities at Thorpe Forest

We offer an extensive range of fun and exciting outdoor activities which are open to individuals, families and smaller groups. If you love being active in the outdoors, then you have come to the right place.

Set within the beautiful Thorpe Forest, all our activities are run by our friendly and highly experienced instructors. Whether a complete beginner, a keen outdoor enthusiast or for those looking for a fun and exciting new experience - we’ve got something for you. We offer some of the best canoeing, climbing, cycling and high ropes activities in East Anglia.

Canoe Hire

Explore the gentle river Thet by canoe with family and friends. This fun activity requires good teamwork and can be physically demanding if you plan to paddle to Bridgham and back (5km). An instructor will issue you with all the equipment you need before sending you on your way.

Outdoor Archery

1.5 hour archery session with a qualified instructor who will get you hitting the target in no time!
This session is great for individuals, couples and families. All equipment provided.

Thorpe Woodlands Family Adventure Day Tuesday 26th August

Bring the whole family for a morning or afternoon of outdoor activities including climbing, zip wires, tree trekking, canoeing, caving, archery and much more!

Tickets are £20 per person- Two sessions 9.30-12.30 & 1.30pm- 4.30pm

Activities suitable for ages 8-80.

Come and join us for some fun in the forest! We have a giant sand pit, hammocks, den building, zip wires, slides, mud kitchen, campfires and much much more!

Tree Top Challenge

1.5 hour session for those who enjoy a challenge.
In this session you will take part in 2 different activities - Tree Trekking and the Tree Top Drop. Tree Trekking is a high ropes obstacle course in the trees similar to GoApe and Tree Top Drop consists of a 20m tree climb followed by a giant leap into thin air - sounds easy doesn't it?

Strictly for Families registered with Activities Unlimited

Our fantastic 2-night adventure breaks are available throughout the year for families who have a child with SEND (special educational needs or disability) and the families of Young Carers. Inorder to book this break you will need to be registered with Activities Unlimited.

Day 1 - arrival

Arrival is anytime after 1pm - each family is provided with a cozy camping pod which sleeps up to 5 people – all bedding is included. Get settled in, explore the local area, play some games, collect wood for a campfire, build a den, geo caching etc.

Day 2 - activities

As part of the Adventure Break, we offer a range of optional adventure activities such as Zip Wires, Canoeing, Archery, Cycling etc. which are bookable online. If outdoor activities are not for you then why not explore other local attractions such as Banham Zoo, Bressingham steam museum, High Lodge, or Thetford Leisure World etc.

Day 3 - departure

Pods need to be vacated by 10am but you are welcome to leave your car on-site and spend a bit more time in the forest.

Adventure Breaks are self-catering so you will need to bring your own food and drinks. During your stay you will have access to a large communal log cabin which has shared, basic cooking and dining facilities.

2-hour session where participants can take part in our Tree Trekking Activity

2-hour archery session where participants will learn how to shoot with a bow and arrow. Our instructors will hopefully get you hitting the target every time.

2-hour bike hire session - explore the forest on 2-wheels on our high quality mountain bikes.

Minimum age 8 years - must be able to ride a 2 wheeled bike

Strictly for families registered with Activities Unlimited Only.

2-Hour canoe session - you can either hire the canoe equipment and head off on your own or join one of our instructors for a guided journey.

Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

90 minute session exploring our fantastic cave. We have over 100m of tunnels and chambers which range in size.

You will need to be wearing long sleeves and trousers or wear one of our caving suits. We will provide participants with a helmet and headtorch.
